Here at Meopham School of Motoring, we offer advanced driving lessons for drivers who want to take their driving skills onto a higher level. The Advanced Test is not exclusively about safety, but encourages the driver to feel confident on the road, to make good progress, and to get greater enjoyment from the experience.

The advanced driving test was introduced in 1956 with the specific objective of significantly improving driving standards using the principles of advanced driving pioneered and applied with great success by the Metropolitan Police.

This is a test devised and administered by the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motoring) and RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents). Each organisation has a slightly different test, and both have an annual membership fee.

The IAM is a charitable organisation set up to improve driving standards voluntarily. Its tests are ungraded and marked pass or fail. Once you pass, you are an Advanced Driver for life.
